Answers to the most common questions

Roughly in the order people ask them.

How do the cancel rules work again?

They differ per board. 4-card: a pair of the same rank in a row or a column. 6-card: a pair stacked one above the other — matches across a row of three do not count. 9-card: three of a kind filling a whole row or column. Full walkthrough in the how to play section, and in the app under Game rules.

My online game looks stuck

Online play is turn-by-turn, so a game can sit for a while if your opponent has not moved. If both of you see "waiting on the other player", update to the latest version — a fix for that shipped in 3.4.3 — then reopen the game. If it persists, email us with both usernames.

I am not getting my-turn notifications

Turn notifications need an account, a connection, and notification permission for 9 Card Golf in your device settings. Check there first — the app will also prompt you when notifications are switched off and you are waiting on a game.

A game ended without a result

If an opponent closes their account, the game cannot be finished. Those games now leave your active list and show as ended rather than waiting on a move that will never come. They do not count as a win or a loss for either player.

Today's rankings look empty

Today's board only lists games finished today, so early in the day it is often genuinely empty. The World board covers all time. Both cover 9-card play and need you to be signed in.

I was signed out

Sessions expire from time to time. When that happens you will see a "sign in to play online" prompt — signing back in restores your online games and rankings. Solo and pass-and-play games are stored on your device and are never affected.

Your account and data

You only need an account for online play and rankings.

Deleting your account

Open Settings in the app and choose to delete your account. This removes your account and clears the app's data on that device. Games you were playing with other people cannot be finished afterwards, so they end without a result.

Signing in on a new device

Sign in with the same account and your online games and rankings follow you. Solo and pass-and-play games live on the device they were played on and do not transfer.

What we collect

Set out in full in our privacy policy. Playing solo or pass-and-play needs no account and no connection.
