Deleting a game is now deliberate

  • You can now delete a game on purpose: swipe a row in your games list, or choose Delete game in the board menu. Both ask you to confirm first, and name the game before it goes.
  • Long press to delete has been removed. It had no confirmation and nothing on screen to show it was there, so games were being lost by accident. Online games are unaffected.

Pull to refresh, in both looks

  • Pull down on your games list or on Rankings to refresh it. This used to work only in the Arcade look; it now works in Classic too, and it keeps working when you have reduced motion turned on.

Dialogs and names, tidied up

  • Pop up dialogs now use the fonts, colours and rounded corners of the look you have chosen, instead of falling back to the system defaults.
  • Names on the Set the table screen are larger and easier to read.

Easier with a screen reader

  • The player search field now shows when it has focus, so it can be found and used from a keyboard.
  • Your games list and Rankings say when they are refreshing and when they have finished, instead of changing silently.

The rating prompt now appears

  • The prompt to rate the app now actually appears — after your third finished game, at most once every two months. It was being asked at a moment the app could not show it, so nobody ever saw it.

Your profile, and badges to earn

  • A new Profile screen — games played, win rate, your lowest round and your recent form, at a glance.
  • Rivals: your record against everyone you have played, with a head-to-head page for each one — the scores of your recent meetings, your average against them, and your best win.
  • Achievements: 67 badges to collect across playing the computer, pass and play and online, with a celebration the moment you earn one.

Elsewhere in the app

  • Pass and play now lets you name the seats, so the hand-off says who is up.
  • The games list no longer overlaps itself at large text sizes, and an empty draw pile now looks empty rather than pretending it still has cards.

Text at any size

  • The game board now follows your system text size — cards, scores, names and labels all grow with it.
  • Screens that could not be scrolled at a large text size now scroll, so nothing is out of reach.
  • Names, scores, seat numbers and the tutorial pictures are no longer clipped when text is turned up.

A scoreboard that keeps up

  • The scoreboard now counts the round in progress — the order, the place numbers and the leader star follow where you actually stand, and rows move as players change place.

Better celebrations

  • The 4-card and 6-card games now celebrate a matched pair as a pair — the popup no longer calls it three of a kind.
  • Clearing your whole board now gets its own Perfect Board celebration.

Made for tablets

  • The board is now sized for a tablet screen in portrait — bigger cards, bigger scores, and controls that are easier to tap.
  • In landscape, the draw and discard piles are now sized to match the cards on your own board, so they are far easier to see and to tap.
  • The opponent board and the scoreboard have grown to suit the screen too, and the scoreboard now lines up with the piles beside it.

  • Send Feedback now matches your chosen look, and confirms when your message has been sent.

Easier to read

  • Bigger, easier-to-read text across the whole app — menus, settings, sign-in and the game screens.
  • The main menu now adapts to large system text sizes.
  • Stronger color contrast throughout, so labels and scores are easier to read in every theme.
  • Player colors are easier to tell apart, including if you are color-blind.

A new look for the board

  • The board has been rebuilt — cleaner cards, clearer turn signals, and scores that are easier to read.
  • Pick your look in Settings: Classic or Arcade, in light or dark.
  • Standings now show your running total and how each round changed it.

Online play reliability

  • Fixed a rare problem where a move could keep retrying in the background instead of giving up, using battery and data.
  • Games where your opponent has left now show as ended, instead of looking like it is still your turn.
  • Feedback you send is now saved on your device and sent later if you are offline, so a message can no longer be lost.
  • Clearer prompt when notifications are switched off and you are waiting on an online game.
  • Updated for the latest Android release.

Two more ways to play

  • Alongside the classic 9-card game you can now play 6-card Golf — the traditional version many of us grew up on — and a quick 4-card game you can finish in about two minutes.
  • Mix and match board sizes against the computer or in pass-and-play. Online play stays 9-card.
